David Briggs

As Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, The Queen’s representative in the County, it has been David’s initiative to set up the Cheshire Commonwealth Association.

In this role he takes a keen interest in the business and industrial life of the County and he hopes that this Association will help Cheshire businesses to grow and to increase their trade with Commonwealth countries.

In addition he is very involved with the voluntary sector and has founded the Cheshire Community Foundation which seeks to help Donors to ensure that their donations have the best possible effectiveness and Cheshire Connect which acts as a bridge between the world of business and local charities to enable business people to give of their time and skill to help charities.

Following his work as Chair of the West Cheshire Poverty Truth Commission he is currently setting up three trial “Community Connector” projects to ensure that people in real need can find the local help and support which they need and deserve.
